Excellent hotel! Warm welcome from all staff, particularly the kind gentleman that explained our dinner - highly recommend booking the half board option to enjoy a sumptuous traditional Japanese dinner in your room (we went for the no seafood option and enjoyed every item)! There is also a foot bath on the roof with sweeping views of Mt Fuji and the hotel is in front of the lake so we woke up to a wonderful view. The main station is a short walk away but the hotel organises pick up anyway. If you're there just for a night I would recommend just paying individually for a bus fare round to Oishi rather than the full access tickets because you don't really have time to do much more than that and then the cable car and/or boat ride which are very close to the hotel so you can get the cable car around 9/10am and avoid the super long queues later in the morning. The gift store is well priced and the breakfast is very full and enjoyable. There is also an onsen with a great selection of toiletries afterwards.

The hotel is located 3min car ride away from the Kawaguchiko station. You can call the hotel in advance to book a van for pick up and drop-off at the station. From there, the service is excellent, their staff members are so considerate and the hotel is top notch comfort. We got their special Japanese shiatsu massage for 30min and it saved us from all the built up pain from walking for two weeks. Their outdoor onsen is so cute, and public baths are just the right temperature. They also have a foot spa with a view on Mount Fuji! Oh and they have SO MUCH FLOOR SPACE!! We had the most space at Konansou than any other hotel we've stayed at. The amenities provided are plentiful and of good quality. The kaiseki had a lot of food varieties and it was hands-down the best kaiseki we tried. They make the bed for you and their blankets are soooo soft and fuwa fuwa!! It was a great experience and worth every penny.

Amazing experience of a traditional ryokan. The staff was excellent, kind and helpful at all times, rooms were clean and tidy, ours had an amazing view of the lake. You can use most of the facilities for free with some additional ones having a fee. We chose the included dinner and breakfast option, dinner was an amazing experience full of flavors and textures we were not used but definitely liked. Breakfast was pretty good, buffet style, but with both Japanese and western options. In terms of location, I think it’s really good depending on what you want to visit. It is just in front of the lake, and has the red line (i think) bus stop right in front of it, which we used to get there from the train station and to get to other tourist spots around the lake. There’s a lawson just outside, the boat ride in the lake and the panoramic ropeway are also just a few minutes walk away which was very convenient.

Simply perfect in every way, from the green tea served to you in your room by the friendly maid as you arrive (whilst enjoying an amazing view of lake Kawaguchi), to the invigorating onsens (both communal and private), and a spectacular Japanese dinner (where the chef will do their utmost to cater to any allergies or ethical/religious limitations). The room itself also deserves extra mentioning – it felt both traditional and modern, and in every way just right. I am a top-tier reward program member on Booking.com, and I have written quite a few reviews since long before the pandemic, and I very rarely give a full 10/10 (a lot of the time, I am the guy whose overly critical review lowers the average score of the hotel), but Konanso unquestionably deserves a perfect score. It may cost a bit more than the cheapest ryokan in Fujikawaguchiko, but it is worth it!
